Arrived safely in our new home town

Here we are! Finally made it to India, after days of packing, getting the wrong pasport, waiting for visa etc, we boarded the plane for a 8 hour journey to our new home country.

But what does it look like? Well, our first impressions were quite good, altough we haven't seen much yet of the "real" India.  To our surprise, Delhi is a very green city, especially after living in a city mostly built of concrete (i.e. Shanghai ;-)).

Our new home for the first coming weeks is the Oberoi hotel, which is a very comfortable and  luxurious 5 star hotel. It has all amenities you would ever need. A large and lovely swimming pool, sauna, hammam, spa, salon, restaurants and wonderful breakfast buffet. Yummie… now just hope we won’t gain too many pounds while getting super spoiled and pampered here!

The day after our arrival, we went to visit the Dutch embassy, where Freek will be working for the coming 5 years. The area where a lot of the embassies are located, is called Chanakyapuri, a beautiful green area, far away from all the craziness seen in old Delhi (tell you about that later…) So a new life in a totally new country is starting, which is very exciting! Arranging all paperwork for an Indian ID card, bank account, mobile phone subscription…finding a new home, decorating it, finding our way in the city, surviving the dreadful Delhi Belly and more! Keep following us in this adventure!
